Unique newspaper coverage of local, regional and global topics - serious and light-hearted.
Brian Haller has been a resident of Mayne Island for eight years… just a newcomer according to Island standards. He is involved in local activities as president of the local Lions club and part of the team that established the now well-known Japanese Gardens on Mayne Island.
Brian has, like many Islanders, retired to a home that needs some TLC and this and a large property keep both him and his wife, Carol, pleasantly occupied. Carol is also deeply involved in the local quilting guild.
He had a successful engineering career with Shell Canada working all over the west, as well as Toronto, and still does some part-time consulting with his company Mayne One Consulting.
In retirement, Brian developed a strong interest in digital photography and the processing of his photos with various computer programs. His interest is more in preserving and capturing precious moments of life on Mayne Island, as well as the people who are part of them, rather than pure artistic photography.
His pictures are featured on www.mayneisland.com, as well as in both Islands Tides newspaper and the monthly Mayneliner news magazine. Various businesses have used his pictures in their promotional brochures.
