In April, parents and children on Galiano Island were visited by parents and children from Kuper Island. Their visitors talked about their culture and showed dances in which the Galiano locals joined.

A resort development planned for Bennett Bay provoked strong reaction from Mayne Islanders; this record line-up attended an Islands Trust meeting at the Agricultural Hall in Miners Bay.
2004 ~ Protesting the Four-Day School Week (Salt Spring Island)
In the spring, Islanders organized a demonstration in Ganges, Salt Spring Island over a restructuring of the Gulf Islands school district to a four-day week. Other parents liked the idea of having their children home on Fridays. The 4-day week began in September 2204. A parent questionnaire about impacts was distributed in November.
